How did you get involved with the Open Texas Conference?
Seeing the need for more statewide conversation around OER work, Texas Digital Library co-hosted (with the State Library) a strategic planning meeting in 2018. After DigiTex convened a meeting with the THECB the following year, we decided to team up on an annual event.
What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about open education practices?
Through its services and communities of practice, Texas Digital Library facilitates alternative models for distributing research, instructional, and cultural heritage materials in ways that are more equitable worldwide. Open Educational Resources represent a key component of this transformation of knowledge sharing and creation. And we believe that librarians and libraries are instrumental in this work.
