What was your first impression of Open Texas?
Excitement! I have attended the big Open Ed conference several times, and I love it, but I also believe in getting connected locally. Open Texas is a venue where I can meet other practitioners in my state and hopefully we can help each other grow our open education programs together.
The interest in open education seems to be growing. Why do you think that is?
Textbook costs are too high, the pandemic crisis has caused economic hardship to many of our students, and also the word is getting out about how open pedagogy can revitalize teaching. The time has definitely arrived for Open Ed!
What would you tell someone who is thinking about presenting or attending Open Texas?
Do it! Get engaged! It's a great conference and a wonderful chance to meet new colleagues and learn so much about this exciting field.
